legoland escapade

Standard

when i was still a little kid, we have this toy that we call spaceship-spaceship.  it’s like lego wherein you can assemble it to anything that you like.  why it’s called spaceship-spaceship?  maybe because most of the little kids will assemble it into a spaceship.  i really don’t know.  as we all now, as time passed by, technology has evolved so as the type of toys that little kids play nowadays.  one of the toys that kids nowadays play is lego.  why i am talking about this?  it is because i will be talking about my escapade in legoland.

prior to the day of me going to legoland, a few of my friends have discouraged me in going to malaysia.  they told me that malaysia is like metro manila in philippines which is very dangerous because there are a lot of pick pockets.  but unlike manila, in malaysia, they said you won’t be able to distinguish the bad guy from the good guy.  whew!  I really have to be careful.  that did not stop me from going there.  I still accepted my friend’s invitation in going to legoland, malaysia.

i was just a mere spectator during the whole ride to legoland. what i meant is, i didn’t really have any idea on how to go there. so i just followed my friends and luckily, we made it to legoland safe and sound. the weather was so hot when we got there and unfortunately i was not equipped for that kind of weather. I did not have a cap and i also did not bring a sunglasses. all i have is my beany and my umbrella(which i did not use). since 2 of our friends haven’t eaten their breakfast yet and it was almost 11 when we arrived there, we decided to eat our lunch first(brunch for the 2 guys). there was a mall infront of legoland, so we opted to eat our lunch there. after having our lunch, we then went inside legoland. our plan was to tour legoland in a counter-clockwise direction. most of the rides that we’ve passed through were for kids. hmmm! it seems that we are lost. the amusement park is not for us. hehehe.

for the first few minutes that we’ve spent there we just took some pictures until we finally saw a ride that we might enjoy. the ride is no doubt for kids but we still enjoyed shooting the gems that are on the different things and creatures that you can find inside.

the next attraction that we went to was the 4D theater, wherein we got wet. we opted not to ride the river rafter because we didn’t want to get wet but to our surprise, those people who are seating infront the theater were the ones who will really get wet. and we were not informed. hmmmph. but it was fun. good thing we did not get sick.

there was this ride in legoland wherein it will be suspended to the top then will be turned around for several times so that you can see the whole legoland. and that was our next stop. during the ride, I met a fellow filipino who is travelling alone. wow! that’s one of my dreams. the view wasn’t really that breathtaking bus it was still fun.

I’m not really a fan of rides which involves with height and speed but when my friends told me that the next ride would be the roller coaster idid not hesitate. even if I get nervous with those kind of rides I still choose to ride on it. why not right? it will be fun. while still lining up for our turn, I busied myself in taking some pictures to take my mind of from what we are going to do. hehehe. when it was our turn to ride the roller coaster, I just closed my eyes until it was over. hahaha.

after the roller coaster ride we decided to rest for a litlle bit. since it was so hot, we bought some ice cream and cold water. refreshing. then we are ready to roam around legoland again. the train was our next stop. I enjoyed the train ride because I finally had the chance to relax. hehehe. but it was just a short ride. after alighting the train we then went to our last stop, the miniland. after taking as many pictures as we can at the miniland we then went home.

it was a very tiring yet fun adventure. I hope it won’t be the last.

misadventures

Standard

when I arrived here in singapore, the haze was pretty bad but it dis not stop me, my ate tinay and our friend shira(who we just bumped in mcdonald’s when ate tinay and I had our dinner there) to roam the streets in woodlands to buy some groceries.  it was not really a wise thing to do to go wander the streets with the haze making us difficult to breathe, so after buying all the things that we need in fairprice, we decided to call it a night.

that was just one of the many misadventures that I experienced here in singapore and heres more.

I. airport
this wasn’t the first time I came here to singapore.  I have already been here last december 2010 with my sister, cousin,a friend, aunt and my aunt’s friends.  but since ut was already 2years ago, I was quite tanga-tangahan when I arrived in changi airport.  when the plane landed at the airport, I was confused whether to sign the white form for tourist or not.  I immediately texted my friend to adk her about it but she was so slow to reply.  I opted to ask the uncle which was seating next to me which was so eager to help me.  after signing the form, she then asked me if I was ok.  (he must have witnessed my cry2x moments earlier)  I told her that I was fine and thank him for his help.  he then asked me if I already know my way inside the airport.  even if it wasn’t my first time there, I was still a bit nervous to wander around all by myself, so I told him no.  hahaha.  he told me to follow him, in which without hesitations, I did.  (hehehe.  ingon si mama don’t talk to strangers.  tsk3x!)  when we were already at the area where I have to line up for the immigration. I was confused whether to tell the officer if I was there because of work or just for a tour. again, I texted my friend, asking her if I should put how many days I am staying in singapore or not because I left my documents inside my luggage. she advised me to just pretend that I am just there for a few days. hehehe. after the immigration nd after getting my luggage, i then located the exit. the airport security did not allow me to go out. he told me that i still have to put my bag on the luggage scanner. (i did not remember going through this process before) after that, i went to the other exit and then the other security called my attention asking me if i have already pud my bag on the scanner. sigh! what a hustle. i told him yes and i was free to go out.

ii. busses and trains
I thought I am already accustomed in riding busses and trains but I was wrong.

ate tinay and I decided to alight at yishun mrt station and then ride a bus home.  when it was time to alight tge bus, I was already standing infront of my seat but forgot to hold the bars.  when the bus stopped, I was was caught out of balance, and the first thing that I did was to hold on to the person seating infront of me. (she was a pregnant lady)  when I looked at her face, she was really angry.  I said sorry to her and hastily alight the bus.

on another day, ate tinay and I was planning to go to lucky plaza. the train was so full and there were a few naughty kids playing inside the train. when we were about to alight the train, again I did not hold the bars so I was caught out of balance which resulted me hitting the lady which was standing infront of me on the forehead with my thumb. good thing she did not really get mad.

when I went here last 2010, I had an experience wherein I can’t come out inside the statioon because I failed to swipe my ezlink card at the entrance in which I thought I did. I thought I will never be havinf that experience or same experience but I was wrong. when weng and I went to sembawang shopping center, during the bus ride, I was really in doubt whether I swiped my card or not. when it was time for us to alight the bus, an error message prompted on the machine. I went infront of the bus and swiped my card there. the driver got so ad at e so he decided to just let me go out of the bus. nyahehehe.

iii. lost

going around singapore, if you don’t have a map is really hard. when I was about to go to mom service center, I made some research on how to get there. I learned that the service center is 12 bus stops from our office. but i forgot to take note on which bus stop i will wait for the bus. i still have to go to the other bus stop opposite our office then go to the other bus stop just to check where i should wait. when I rode the bus, I really counted. but I counted it wrong so I alighted at the wrong bus stop. I still have to walk to the next bus stop then ask some people for the location of the mom service center. after processing my spass, I went at the bus stop and check what bus I should ride in going home. earlier that day I already have an Idea on what bus I will ride but I did not know where I should wait for it. while checking for the bus routes, I saw the bus 151 approaching. so without hesitation I immediately rode the bus. I really enjoyed the bus ride that it took me awhile to realized that I am already lost. hehehehe. I decided to alight to a certain bus stop and check on what bus I should ride that will take me to sommerset mrt station. I missed my stop so I again decided to just alight the bus. luckily, the bus stop that I alighted is near the orchard mrt station. phew.

the decision

Standard

when i was still in college, working outside the Philippines was one of my option. well, it was in fact one of my goal. but died down along the way after meeting a special person back then. all i wanted was just to stay in the Philippines, work there and have my own family. years have passed and the then boyfriend and i broke-up. heartaches, frustrations, depressions and loneliness led me to decide to try my luck somewhere else. until one day a former officemate of mine posted on her ym status that their company is looking for a software developer. i asked her what are the qualifications, I was reluctant to apply when she told me that the developer should know java and c++. well, i am quite familliar with those programming languages but i am not really keen in using them because i am a .net programmer. but i still gave her my resume and prayed to the Lord that if the position is for me, i hope that everything will go smoothly. to make the story short, i got the job and is already working in Singapore.

whatever God’s reason for sending me here, i just hope that i’ll soon know about it.
